Griffin Electric awarded Georgia Tech Dalney Building project

Holliston, MA (December 2018). Wayne J. Griffin Electric, Inc. (Griffin Electric), a leading electrical subcontractor throughout New England and the Southeast celebrating 40 years in the industry, recently began installation work on the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) Dalney Building in Atlanta, GA.  Scheduled to reach substantial completion in the summer of 2019, this 332,750-sf project consists of an office building, new parking structure, and shell space for a potential future biological wastewater reclamation facility.

The 54,500-sf, five-story office building will be used by several organizations to facilitate campus research and will be designed to receive, filter, store, and serve back rainwater captured, decreasing overall demand on municipal water sources.  The parking structure will be 278,250-sf and consist of six stories.  Aiming for very low energy use, the project will be pursuing Parksmart certification.

Griffin Electric will be installing primary and secondary services, as well as systems for power distribution, lighting, and fire alarm. Additionally, Griffin’s contract includes wiring chargers for electric vehicles, an inverter for emergency power, and a Blue Phone System for emergency communications.

Three Atlanta-based firms also join Griffin Electric on the project team, including New South Construction Company (general contractor), Collins Cooper Carusi Architects, and Newcomb & Boyd (electrical engineer).
